DETAILS OF CASA LORCA

Casa Lorca is a perfect place for a relaxing family holiday. It is on a small, exclusive development of villas on the splendid Vera Playa beach which is up to 300 metres wide and is the best beach in the area. The sand stretches away into the distance and is never crowded even in high summer. There is a large communal pool with its own private access straight on to the beach. Due to the small number of villas which use the pool, it is never busy.

Having experienced years of family holidays ourselves we have tried to provide everything you might want in terms of quality. So for example the beds are comfortable and there really is plenty of crockery and utensils.
The accommodation includes five bedrooms (three doubles and two twins), four bathrooms and two living rooms and so is suitable for a maximum of ten people. This means that Casa Lorca can either be used by one or two families or a group of friends.
With that in mind it is worth noting that the way the villa is laid out can afford a degree of privacy and space from each other. That is because of the design of the lower ground floor which has natural light and its own living room, bedrooms and bathroom and so feels very much a self-contained part of the house. The swimming pool opens onto the beach itself.

The layout of the house and other details are as follows.

Ground floor

Large dining terrace facing towards the sea.
Large living room with marble floor, antique furnishings and equipped with multi-channel satellite TV which receives BBC TV and radio and ITV and English commercial radio. DVD player.
Kitchen with oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer and plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery, utensils, pots and pans.
Bedroom facing the sea with two single beds with bathroom adjoining.

First Floor

Master bedroom with double bed leading on to large terrace overlooking the sea. En-suite bathroom.
Second bedroom also facing the sea with two single beds and en-suite bathroom.

Living Room Second Floor

Solarium overlooking the sea.

Lower Ground Floor

Large living room equipped with TV to play DVD's on (rental shop nearby) and CD player.
Large bedroom with double bed.
Second large bedroom with double bed.
Bathroom with large walk-in shower.

Air Conditioning

There is air conditioning to all parts of the house (all electricity is inclusive) except the lower ground floor where it is unnecessary. This doubles as a heating system for the winter months.

Outside

A compact garden of palms and colourful plants which provides welcome shade from the heat of the summer sun. There is a large barbecue and you can eat outside either on the dining terrace or at the large table in the garden. The garden contains lavender, rosemary and jasmine plants for scent on the evening air.

Swimming Pool

There is a large swimming pool plus a paddling pool for young children. These are for residents of Casa Lorca and its few adjoining houses only. The pools are set in a well maintained garden next to the beach. There is a private gate giving access straight onto the beach.

The Beach

As you step out of the pool area onto the beach to the left it stretches away to a wooded headland. About a hundred metres along is a family-run beach bar/restaurant which is open all day and evening between June and September and which is always very jolly and extremely good value. Another similar establishment is further along. If you have young children they can play while you relax in the shade.
To the right the beach widens as it goes down and runs for several kilometres right down to the harbour at Garrucha. Even in high summer it does not get overcrowded because there is simply too much space. It is up to about 300 metres wide for much of its length. The first stretch of a few hundred yards is open to naturists so you may see some interesting sights as you stroll along but this seems to pose no problems to the clothed or the unclothed.

Children & Teenagers

When ours were growing up the one thing we wanted when on holiday was not to have to worry if they were out of sight when they were young or if they might be bored as they got older. You can have that peace of mind at Casa Lorca.
For small children it is not near the public road. That is several hundred yards away. The internal road on the development is only used by residents and visitors and so is very quiet. The entrance to the swimming pool is controlled by an electric gate both into it and out the other side onto the beach as is the small road into Casa Lorca and its neighbours.
As to 'stranger danger' we can only give our own opinion which is that in this area if we had taken our children for a holiday there when they were small we would not have worried about them.
For teenagers wanting to go off by themselves on a night out there are places to go and our own have always had a good time and never had any problems. There does not appear to be any 'yob' element to worry about.

Shops & Services

There are excellent supermarkets nearby as well as all the other services you may need. There is a Guest Information Folder at Casa Lorca which has all these sorts of details in it.

Things to Take

Hairdryers are not supplied. You'll need an adaptor for continental plugs. Slippers are handy as marble and tile floors can be cold on bare feet if you're using the air-conditioning. Bring any favourite CD's or DVD's. Other than that pretty much everything else is in the house. Snorkels, fishing gear and lilos etc can be got locally. Beach towels are supplied.

Restaurants

Lots of choice both for price and type. You can enjoy the great informal beach restaurants such as the one near Casa Lorca, eat wonderful seafood in the fish restaurants by the harbour in the little port town of Garrucha which is ten minutes away, sit overlooking the two tiny harbours in the fishing village of Villaricos which is just up the road, find places in the countryside or dine more elegantly in interesting surroundings. There is plenty to choose from and some of our favourites are listed elsewhere on this website and in the Guest Information Folder at the house.

Activities

Apart from the obvious ones of sun and sand there are a variety of things to do for all ages in the immediate area. Again these are listed elsewhere here and in the Guest Information Folder. Briefly they range from four excellent golf courses within five to fifteen minutes drive away, a water park, go-karting, scuba diving, horse riding, a fitness centre and lots more. Out in the countryside where they used to make films such as the Clint Eastwood 'Spaghetti Westerns' there are Wild West theme parks in the old studio sets with enough cowboys and shoot-outs daily to thrill any young boy while for teenagers a night out in the nearby beach resort of Mojacar is good fun.
