WEATHER

Whatever you wish to do you need to know what the weather is like. If you read any tourist information it will say the sun always shines. We could say that about Casa Lorca as the province of Almeria records more hours of sunshine per year than anywhere else in Spain. However it will be more help to you to try to give an honest assessment of what that means in practice.

Spanish surrealist and his pictures are…

The warmth of days and evenings in spring rapidly grows into the heat of summer. Being by the sea at Casa Lorca is a great advantage in terms of moderating the highest of the temperatures which can be uncomfortable if you are staying even a short distance from the beach in high summer. Bear that in mind when choosing somewhere to stay. Particularly in July and August anywhere off the beach is very hot and even a pool won't help as they heat up too much in the sun as well.

During March and certainly April things are beginning to warm up noticeably. You can be eating outside comfortably by now if not before. By May you can expect pretty hot days. This continues into June and July and August are very hot indeed.

There is air-conditioning in Casa Lorca and you will be pleased to have it between June and September. Without it you would be too warm to sleep.

Usually warm and sunny!

September and into October are lovely months as the sea still retains the warmth built up over summer and the sun continues to shine but less fiercely so.

The winter months from November through to March are variable. When the sun shines it is as nice or better than a fine English summer's day and you can wear T-shirts and shorts - although the sea and the swimming pool will be a bit too chilly for fun!

In the evenings and on overcast days from late autumn through to early spring you will need a pullover or jacket. Even on sunny days the temperature drops quickly at dusk because there is no cloud cover to retain the warmth of the day. However, the air-conditioning in Casa Lorca doubles as a heating system so you will not be cold in the house at night.

More interesting than talking about…

Overall, perhaps the simplest way to sum up the weather at Casa Lorca is to say the sun shines most days of the year and, depending on the season, the usual daytime temperature ranges between warm, hot and very hot.
